Who is House of Baltic Linen?

Established in 2013, House of Baltic Linen is a small, family run business currently located in Melbourne, Australia; a city which experiences famous 4-seasons in a day. With constant longing for our home, Lithuania and an armour for all of Melbourne’s 4-seasons, we carefully crafted our linen business. Our linens are special to us- constructed with love and care, adorning not only the homes of our customers, but our whole family too so you can be left assured with the quality.

Why Choose Us?

We pride ourselves in offering linen bedding that is unlike all the others available on the market; using heavy and medium weight rustic linen fabric to create duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases. The difference between conventional linen and House of Baltic Linen is our use of linen fabric that is almost twice the weight. While conventional linen is usually 150-170gsm, our heavyweight rustic linen is 260-280gsm, this means our bedding will outlast any standard linens and will maintain its softness throughout use. Using diverse fibre variations of only the finest, 100% European linen, signature designs (created by unconventional seam techniques), colours and patterns- we make your home products that are special, luxurious, and unique.

Where is our linen made?

Our linen fabric is born in Europe- from seed to flax and then woven in Lithuania. Our linen fabric is Oeko-Tex certified, meaning that no harmful chemicals were used throughout entire making process. We are proudly using Masters of Linen certified weavers, members of European linen growers and weavers.

What is the difference between colour shades offered by us?

Simply put, the colours we offer are weight specific. Colours for linens of certain weight are only available for that specific weight (not interchangeable) and vice versa. Moreover, colour palettes of our fabrics and textures are altered from time to time so as we launch new colours, we discontinue older ones. Be aware that this means we do not make products in the same colour permanently, so apart from our natural collections (undyed flax and white) every product is limited.

What is the difference between rustic linen and lightweight linen?

Rustic linen offers a unique sleeping experience! This fabric is coarser in texture -more defined weaving, is thicker, sturdier, and longer lasting. It is perfect for warm sleepers, who are always cold. It is also perfect for colder nights and for all linen connoisseurs who adore linen textures, and the tactile sensation it gives to skin. We offer it to those who value quality, exclusivity, and individuality.

Rustic linen bedding is our signature textile, one that isn’t catered by any other brand. While described as heavyweight, we want to make sure you prepare for its unbelievably soft hand!

Lightweight linen is a smoother, finer woven textile. Less defined in texture, it is like cotton. It is universal and suitable as a year-round bedding set. Cool in summer and warm in winter it is a people pleaser. It is most likely a textile that every linen customer already owns... or a similar one, or just like that, but from elsewhere. No face, no seams, no character, no drama yet compared to heavyweight linen, it is simply put, just nice.

We offer bedding in 4 different weights: medium weight in 180-190gsm, Rustic heavyweight in 260-280gsm, Grainsack linen in 450gsm and waffle linen in 650gsm.

Why are Rustic sheets superior & what are the deteriorating properties of lightweight linen?

We only recommend using fitted sheets in heavyweight Rustic linen instead of lightweight. Some bedding pieces can wear much quicker than the others. This is mostly of concern for fitted sheets due to the constant friction on the fabric from our bodies. Because the sheet is stretched on the mattress, the harder wearing places on the sheet begin to appear, where fabric begins to prematurely thin out and deteriorate. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to prevent this from happening. A fitted sheet will wear and tear much faster than the rest of the bedding, therefore, the weight of the linen is extremely important when it comes to fitted sheets. Lightweight linen fitted sheets normally lasts 1-2 years, while heavyweight linen sheets would last 3-6 years. The heavier the linen is – the longer it lasts.
